2015 Indiana Daffodil Society Scholar Briana Whitaker is a member of Keith Clay’s lab. In the upcoming year, Briana will either attend one of the society’s meetings in Indianapolis or partake in one of its programs at the Bloomington Farmers’ Market. In addition to her research in the Clay Lab, she is also interested in increasing scientific communication between scientists and the general public. To better prepare herself to do that, she has served as an associate instructor, mentored an undergraduate researcher, and volunteered with the IU Biology outreach program. The outreach program brings together local teachers, university professors, and students to implement statewide learning objectives by sharing hands-on science activities at elementary schools in the Bloomington area.
