Research Description
Gavin Murphy handles biological samples on the JEOL 3200 Transmission Electron Microscope and performs imaging, cryo-imaging, tomography and cryo-tomography. Cryo samples thinner than 500 nm can be imaged to atomic resolution or reconstructed with tomography to 5 nm resolution. He is also a user of the Zeiss Auriga Focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope, which can reconstruct large volumes (e.g. 40 x 20 x 20 micron) of cells and tissue to 15 nm resolution.
