Travel Awards
The Department offers several sources of funding to support graduate students attending scientific conferences.
Eligible:
Graduate students presenting a talk or poster on their research at a conference.
Award:
Varies; if a student is presenting a talk or poster, the Cleland (Plant & Fungal Biology students) and Floyd (Microbiology students) funds will cover up to $500 for travel expenses per student per year. Other students presenting a talk or poster may apply for departmental funds to cover up to $250 for travel expenses per student per year.
Special Application Materials:
- All required application materials should be submitted according to the most appropriate method detailed below.
- Graduate students in the Plant & Fungal Biology program are eligible for Cleland awards, and should submit an application for consideration by Heather Reynolds.
- Graduate students in the Microbiology Program are eligible for Floyd awards, and should submit for the consideration of Dan Kearns: a copy of the abstract of the talk of poster to be presented, as well as information about the meeting title, location and dates.
- Other graduate students may apply for departmental travel funds, and should submit an application for the consideration of Debbie Martindale.
Applications are accepted at any time; funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come first-served basis.
