How to Apply

Undergraduate student applications for this departmental award will be accepted during the spring semester. The application deadline is Monday, February 11, 2013.

To apply, fill out and save the application form using Adobe Reader. Email Kathy Wyss if you plan to apply for a fellowship(s) and tell her who your faculty recommender will be. A separate secure Oncourse project drop box will be created for you and each of your recommenders. Each of you will receive an email containing a link to your drop box so that your materials (completed application packet for the student, letter of recommendation for the faculty member) can be uploaded. Recipients of this award will be recognized at a departmental ceremony held on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 3:30 p.m.

William G. Roessler Microbiology Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2004 via a bequest from William G. Roessler, who earned a Ph.D. in Bacteriology from our department in 1950.

Eligible:

IUB Department of Biology students majoring in Microbiology.

Criteria:

Microbiology graduate students who are in good academic standing. Also open to Junior or Senior Microbiology majors with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or better.

Award:

$1,000

Special Application Materials:

Submit all materials listed on the application form.

A letter of support must be submitted separately by a faculty member.

Note:

Award alternates between undergraduate students and graduate students. A graduate student received this award in the spring of 2012. Undergraduate students will be invited to apply for this award in the spring of 2013.
