IUB Investigators working with Drosophila

The following IUB professors train graduate students and postdocs. In addition, more than a dozen highly experienced, Ph.D.-level Drosophila geneticists staff the Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center, the Drosophila Genomics Resource Center, FlyBase and Drosophila research labs. It is a highly interactive and collaborative group working on a wide variety of topics in Drosophila biology.

Gene regulatory networks controlling sex.
Cell cycle control of DNA replication and genome stability.
The biology of nuclear receptors.
Computational and evolutionary genomics; evolution of transcriptional regulation; molecular population genetics.
Genome functions of RNA viruses and the roles of trans-acting factors.
Cytogenetics, developmental genetics, and molecular genetics.
Compound eye development.
Down syndrome, synaptic functions, and mitochondrial dynamics.
Evolutionary physiological genetics; population genetics; biochemical adaptation.
Specification of three-dimensional biological form in cells and in evolution.
MicroRNA function.
Photoreceptor cell development.
