Hale Bopp Photographs

The pictures on this page were taken during the period of March 25 to April 1, 1997 at two locations near Bloomington, IN. One location is about 6 miles north of Bloomington off old route 37. The other location is McCormick's Creek State Park, about 15 miles west of Bloominton on route 46. The State Park is a much darker site but there is still enough light pollution there to limit exposure times. All of the photographs were shot using an Olympus OM2 SLR camera with a 70 to 210 zoom lens mounted on a barndoor tracker. Fugi Super G 800 film was used and the negatives were scanned using a slide scanner to obtain the images shown here. The exposures ranged from one to 5 min.
