The Conehead family is seen here celebrating the discovery of an arabidopsis mutant that they discovered while working in the Ohio State Arabidopsis Stock Center greenhouses. Although they had previously discovered numerous other mutants, they were particularly excited about this one because they felt an immediate affinity towards it. The apical shoots of the mutant they had just discovered form a odd pointed structure, much like their own heads. Connie initially named it the pinhead mutant. It was subsequently determined that it is allelic to the pin that was described by other researchers.
