Identification of new genetic determinants of flowering time: My project is centered on using a forward genetic approach and the yeast two-hybrid system to find new genes involves in regulating flowering time in Arabidopsis thaliana. These complementary approaches will allow us to survey the complete genome and to potentially detect essential and/or redundant genes involve in this critical developmental process. The forward genetic screen is design to find components that are critical to maintain the late-flowering phenotype of the autonomous pathway mutant luminidependens (ld). The Y2H system will be used to identify the binding partners of LUMINIDEPENDENS and other proteins known to be involved in regulating flowering time. |
